Mind Talk held its regular private monthly themed meeting on March 28, 2017 at 7:30 pm in the refined setting of the Four Seasons Hotel, Beirut. The session under Chatham house rules addressed the exploitation of the offshore gas in Lebanon and the east mediterranean.


Mona Sukkarieh co-founder of Middle East Strategic Perspectives (MESP) & the Beirut Energy Club was invited to give a talk on the Lebanese oil and gas sector and present the roadmap for the first licensing round. The presentation started with an overview of the Energy landscape in the Eastern Mediterranean, highlighting recent developments in Cyprus, Egypt and Israel. Sukkarieh then offered insights on the Lebanese Oil and Gas sector, focusing on the legal and fiscal framework governing the first licensing round, the potential of this sector in Lebanon, in addition to the opportunities and risks involved.
The presentation which was followed by a round table was held in presence of distinguished guests from the Diplomatic Corps representing countries with a special interest in the sector, Businessmen and Businesswomen as well as Communication experts.
The meeting was also an opportunity to present MESP’s latest initiative, the Beirut Energy Club, an informal club bringing together experts and professionals interested in the Energy sector in Lebanon and the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean.
